Notes, Tuition spreadsheets used for Budget Calculations

    Purpose

These numbers are used to determine each college's tuition earnings under budget reform.

    Undergraduate tuition distribution

Differential tuition flows to the college of enrollment. Then campus-level waivers and centrally-funded financial aid are subtracted from the remaining undergraduate tuition. This net amount is then split into two equal portions. One half is distributed by IUs (see IUs spreadsheets) and the other half is distributed by major (enrollment).

    Graduate and Professional tuition distribution

All tuition assessed, less waivers granted, is assigned to the college of enrollment.

    Data Source

EDW Financial Aid and Student Accounts Receivable Modules.

    Undergraduate Regular Tuition

In-state and out-of-state on-campus tuition charged to undergraduate students majoring in this unit, excluding program and international differentials.

    Undergraduate Program Differential

All undergraduate students enrolled in Grainger Engineering and Engineering related, Chemical & Life Sciences, Fine & Applied Arts, College of Media, Gies College of Business, School of Information Sciences and certain curricula in the College of Agriculture, Consumer, & Environmental Sciences (ACES) and College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (LAS), College of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) and College of Education are assessed a tuition differential. The numbers in this column are each student's total tuition minus the Regular Tuition in the first column. All differential tuition is attributed to the college of enrollment in the budget model.

    Undergraduate International Program Differentials

Some programs assess an international program differential, which is separated out here.

    Undergraduate International Differentials

The differential charged to international undergraduate students. This is separate from any program-based international differentials.

    Waivers from Campus

Tuition waiver totals for on-campus waivers granted by a campus-wide program or statutory waiver program. These in total are netted from the pool of non-differential tuition before the tuition is attributed by IU and major.

    Waivers from College

Tuition waiver totals for on-campus waivers granted by the college, e.g. for undergraduate assistantships. These are funded by the college of enrollment.

    Professional Tuition

All on-campus tuition charged to professional students in this unit.

    Professional Waivers

    Graduate Regular Tuition

On-campus tuition charged to graduate students in this unit, excluding program differentials, cost-recovery programs and self-supporting programs.

    Graduate Program Differentials

The difference between the base tuition rate charged to each graduate student and the amount charged to the students in this college or departments.

    Graduate Waivers

All on-campus tuition waivers granted to graduate students in this unit.

    Cost Recovery Tuition
