Definitions

Student Enrollment Categories -- Fall term enrollments

Enrollments are counted on the 10th day of class.

Full-time undergraduates undergraduates enrolled for at 12 or more credit hours
Full-time graduate and professional graduate and professional students enrolled for 9 or more hours or 2.25 graduate units.
Freshmen Students with less than 30 hours of accumulated credit (class=1)
Sophomore Students with at least 30 but less than 60 hours of credit (class=2)
Junior Students with at least 60 but less than 90 hours of credit (class=3)
Senior Students with more than 90 hours of credit (class=4)
NonDegree Undergrad Students enrolled in an undergraduate college in class 5.
2ndDegree Undergrad Students enrolled in class 6.
Master's (Grad 1) Students enrolled in the Graduate College in class 7. Includes students who are pursuing a doctorate but who have accumulated fewer than 8 graduate credits and have no previous master's degree.
Doctoral (Grad 2) Students enrolled in the Graduate College in class 8.
NonDegree Grad Students in class=5 who are enrolled in the Graduate college
Professional Students enrolled in Law or Veterinary Medicine

Other significant institutional enrollments

Summer Session 1 This 4-week term runs during May.
Summer Session 2 This includes an 8-week term running June through mid-August and two-five week sessions in the College of Law that run over the summer.
Extramural Terms Courses are offered off-campus during the fall, spring, and summer terms
Guided Individual Study Students enrolled in the correspondence courses offered by the campus. This is a count of student enrollments over the course of the year and may include duplicates.
Non-credit Continuing Education Includes professional development, programs for older adults, music camps & workshops, intensive English, and enrichment courses.
Non-credit remedial and developmental The campus offers some summer programs for minority students interested in science and engineering, and also a coordinates programs at high schools around the state for disadvantaged students. Counts of enrollments in these programs are not available.
